I spent lots of time on the ocean as a child. I remember not getting seasick on rough seas and how beautiful yet violent the waves appeared as they crashed against wet, dark rocky shores. I also remember how—off in the distance— the sky would light up and glow rays of golden happiness and hope.

The Tempest uses abstract expressionism to capture the beauty of nature from a child’s perspective.
