System Failure
On most days I live a very happy minimalist lifestyle, but even in my quiet and lovely Great Lakes town, the hardships and ugliness of the world can sometimes come CRASHING in.
Covid and a heated political climate were two things I simply could not avoid in 2019 and 2020. My cousin in New England died early on from Covid (which deeply disturbed me), and then too many neighbors and family members (who do not read books or do research) began parroting and aggressively pushing their favorite news channel’s views and opinions.
Since I’ve been channeling my inner emotions through art since childhood—as opposed to merely painting external reality—when my protective life skills and filters aren’t strong enough and the world gets inside me, my art often takes on an abstract edge. From a disturbed part of my being came this artist’s fifteen-painting 2020 artistic journey called Systems Failure. This is my journey’s first painting, and I called it System Failure.
