Minimalism and Power

There are millions of artists in the world today, so what makes Dorothea Sandra Art unique?

Starting from her “essential self” (an uncluttered place of purity and honesty), she creates and pushes “forces” (life/energy) to flow through paint and canvas for others to benefit from and enjoy. She’s a minimalist and an abstract artist with the power to create beautiful art!

“Patience is power; with time the mulberry leaf becomes a silk gown.” —Chinese Proverb

So much of who I am as an artist today comes from living in Tokyo during my 20s and 30s.

I was hardly ever home. I was out and about…meeting new people from all over Asia and the world…going here and there…learning so much…and absorbing—really absorbing—new ways of experiencing life and especially art.

If you’ve seen my art, especially my florals/landscapes, you know I’m a lover of colors. Before Japan there really wasn’t a color I didn’t like— except this color of green. Still young and snobby, I called it puke green or vomit green or pus green. I had absolutely no use for it; that is, until I realized its amazing value and beauty as seen in exquisite Japanese pottery, screens, kimono threads, and even pop culture anime frames.

For me, the green in this blended abstract represents patience. Like the mulberry leaf, patience requires time and is often achieved after difficulties and struggles. The golds and yellows reminded me of two things: kimono fabric and amazing designs with threads of gold.

Forces of Patience by Dorothea Sandra

Forces of Patience is a sophisticated abstract with beautiful blends.

It’s part of my “blended” Forces of Goodness series with “minimalism” (with the minimalism lifestyle definition, not the mid-1960s through the 1970s art history definition, in mind).

I used only professional level Soft Body Liquitex acrylic paint. Professional level Liquitex is a personal favorite of mine for this kind of brushwork. I like the way it flows on the 16” x 20” stapled canvases—not too hard and not too soupy.

…And which emotions did I channel into this beauty while blending and creating its essence? Lots and lots of happiness and a super abundance of joy!

Always a one-of-a-kind original work of art.
